How to Audit a Peptide Supplier's COA Library
A single certificate can describe a reported test for one identified sample. A COA library is more useful because it lets you check whether documentation is visible, current and connected to the material being described across a supplier’s catalogue.
Start with the question the library can answer
A supplier’s COA library can help answer a narrow documentation question: which analytical records are publicly visible for specified materials or lots at the time you check? It does not by itself establish a conclusion about a whole catalogue, a future batch, product safety, efficacy or suitability for human use.
Keeping that limit visible makes the review more useful. You are not trying to produce a winner from a document count. You are checking whether a reader can follow a traceable path from a product description to an identified record.
1. Map coverage before judging a document
First make a simple list of the product categories or individual products a supplier presents. Then record whether a current COA is visible for each item you sample. The result is a coverage snapshot, not a pass/fail score.

2. Match the lot, not just the product name
A product name alone is often too broad. Look for a lot or batch identifier on both the product listing and the report. If the identifiers are absent, different or not clearly connected, record that as an unresolved link rather than guessing what the document covers.

3. Read the analytical fields consistently
For every document you sample, use the same fields: date, sample or lot identifier, method label, reported result, specification if shown and issuing laboratory. Consistency lets you compare documentation quality without pretending that unlike records are identical.

4. Look for library patterns, not isolated examples
One complete report and one incomplete report can both be useful observations. Instead of treating either one as a verdict, ask whether the same documentation fields appear across several sampled entries: current lot matching, readable reports, a named laboratory, method information and reported results.
Also note what you cannot inspect. A library may have a small number of entries, old documents, generic files or records that are not linked from the relevant product page. “Not visible during this review” is a clearer finding than a positive or negative conclusion that the evidence cannot support.
5. Separate supplier statements from independent records
A supplier may describe a testing policy or an independent laboratory relationship. That description is a supplier statement until the linked document can be inspected. A report carrying a laboratory name still needs its own identifiers, date and scope checked.

A ten-minute COA library audit
- Choose three to five representative product pages; do not select only the best-looking document.
- Record the exact product label and visible lot for each.
- Open the linked COA or library record and check whether the lot matches.
- Note the date, method, reported result and laboratory detail.
- Mark each missing, unreadable or unlinked field as a gap.
- Write a narrow conclusion: what is visible, what is connected and what remains unknown.

Use careful conclusions
A useful summary might say: “Several sampled products linked to readable reports with matching lot identifiers; wider catalogue coverage was not assessed.” Or: “A library was visible, but sampled product pages did not show a matching lot.” Both statements tell the reader exactly what was checked and prevent a narrow record becoming a broad promise.
